Hi Carol. A well designed partial denture should be comfortable, restore your appearance and function well for a number of years. An acrylic partial is more bulky than a metal framed partial. Metal framed partial dentures are thin and strong, fit better and patients have a better sense of taste. Perhaps your denture has not been designed well and you should go back to your service provider with a list of complaints. You can consider mini-implants under your denture to improve the fit. These are tiny titanium screws that are inserted into your bone. "Press studs" are then placed into the denture and clip onto the implants.
