Hi! Once gum is lost, it is gone. Often the bone level shrinks as well and the teeth may eventually loosen. This is noticeable on an x-ray. A periodontist specializes in gums and there may be a possibility to do a gum graft. A section from the palate is used to graft in the areas of gum loss.
